Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson, also known as Old Hickory, became the seventh president of the United States in the year 1828. Jackson was known as the "People's President" due to the fact that as a child he was poor, orphaned and was wounded in the Revolutionary War. As he reached adulthood he began to venture west and earned money as a lawyer, and planter, and he was considered to be the hero of the Battle of New Orleans. Andrew Jackson's inauguration was attended by the common people making the scene extremely rowdy and chaotic. The time that Jackson was president was known as The Age of Jackson.
